I don’t get to do much in the way of baby showers, and since I am not a mother myself, it is sometimes a wonderful thing to see the-mother-to-be pampered and fawned over as she may never get that again (depending of course on how many children she may have).

This last weekend, I was given the great priviledge of participating in a beautiful shower for the mother Jaxs and father Matt.  After it took great pains to figure out how I would get from one side of town to another, I found myself being picked up by the Grandfather to be.  We had a wonderful conversation as he took me a side of town I have not had the priviledge of venturing to since I moved here.  Our conversations not only took to the small talk of careers, the heat, and cars that didn’t behave, but I also had the priviledge of speaking to him regarding aviation and my love for it after he mentioned that not only had he been a pilot himself, but his father before him was also a MAJOR contributor to one of the most beautiful planes of it’s time, the Lear Jet.

Driving through a very posh and obviously very unique area, where homes actually sat on half acre lots and carried a great deal of the vintage feel to them, we pulled through double iron gates into a cobble stone driveway that sat in front of a home that made me think we had just stepped back in time to the 1800’s and into Mexico and it’s beautiful two-story Hacienda’s.  Even walking into the home was awe inspiring.  The architecure as well as the obvious love for the homey feel was very obvious.  Pictures of family, family on vacation and even huge pictures of the mother who spent much of her youth as a well-loved actress spralled all oJaxs and babyver the beautiful kitchen (that I would have gotten lost in) to the Medieval formal dining room that included chairs that were from a monestary to the shaded courtyard with a gorgeous waterfall that just added a wonderful touch.

I was escorted to the back room where a beautiful wood burning fireplace and so much to look at just made me almost forget about why I was there.

The mother-to-be finally showed, and as I put myself together and some cones of henna, she took her seat.  Warning her, that her new daughter would find the henna cool and probably do some kicking, I started to apply the mud.  Jax (the mother) mentioned that her prior application (about a week and a half ago) the baby hadn’t moved, but just as on cue, the baby immediately started to move. We giggled and worked around the active child still in her womb and continued to embelish her tummy.

As the women started to arrive, most of all ages, including a new mother, and another mother-to-be, I enjoyed taking my creative strides to length including some angel wings Wings of Lovefor a mother that has seen her guardian angel and continued to battle an illness that doesn’t seem to have taken much of her spirit away.  I had offered to her the ability to do some more henna therapy for the helping with her emotional and mental state as well as a healing process at no cost.  It is always something I have enjoyed doing especially to those that have battled cancer, amputation or any other serious illness that has caused them to see themselves differently.

The sister of the mother was looking for a dragon and her son soon followed suite.  Of course, her’s was much larger since I had more room to work.Luck Dragon

I even had the opportunity to show off some Jagua work in hopes of promoting the product a bit more to show other’s the other alternatives to black henna and it’s dangers versus a 100% natural product.

I did receive a call today from the mother who went to have professional pictures done with a family photographer.  I have not seen them yet, but hope to post them soon as well as information to those mothers who wish to do the same thing and how to reach the photographer.

I feel I am very lucky to meet such wonderful people and work with them on such a creative level.  I walked away from that baby shower feeling as if I had given the mother and many others a lesson in creation and in creativity.
