Right after Sabina & Ravi, I took part the next day in a large wedding that involved two wonderful cultures as well.  One Gabby & Jamals Weddingbeing a Muslim family born and raised in Kenya (the groom) as well as an El Salvadorian family (the brides).  The bride was actually quite reserved with what she wanted, and felt that minimal was a positive way to accomodate both the groom’s family customs and the reservations of her own family.

However, the grooms mother, many aunts and his own sister got very involved providing me with a great deal of Artistic License.

While applying the henna, I had a wonderful conversation with one of the Aunts “Shorty”, a nurse who lived in the Denver area that spoke of working with the Alzheimers Foundation while doing a Mehndi night giving all the proceeds to the Foundation once it was completed.  I am hoping to hear from her when she returns in order to get me some information so that I might find other artists in the Denver area in hopes of helping them raise more monies for the charity.

In return, it now has me thinking that I might do something very similar here once the holidays start.  It will keep my skills honed as well as give me some of that holiday cheer that seems to escape me around the holidays.  I am hoping to spread the word around in hopes of finding other locals in the area that might be able to volunteer their time to help with the charity of their choice.
